About Us
Our Principles of Health Equity
Recognizing every individual’s uniqueness, community, and contributions, we promote a transformative research community that respects, values, and supports all people.
We strive to:
- Commit to ongoing learning and reflection on how our behaviors, statements, policies, practices, and processes may perpetuate discrimination and harm, distrust versus healing, and impede mutual respect.
- Cultivate culturally humble leaders in translational neuroscience and actively recruit faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Partner with patients, families and advocates who reflect diverse populations including the spectrum of neurodiversity, ethnic and racial diversity, gender, and socio-economic status.
- Provide educational resources to researchers to support respectful, meaningful patient engagement and to promote access, inclusion, belonging, and equity.
- Share data transparently and prioritize research that is translatable across broad and global communities of patients.
- Provide pilot grant funding intentionally focused on community engagement and supporting diverse, historically marginalized, underserved, and under-resourced patients, families, and communities.
- Encourage engagement and inclusion of diverse participants in translational research through community partnerships and intentional reduction of linguistic, cultural, and economic barriers to participation.
The RSZ TNC efforts will be informed by and consistent with the Boston Children’s Hospital Declaration on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity goals.
