Dr. Sahin & RSZ

Rosamund Stone Zander (1942 – 2023)

With profound sadness, we announce the death of our benefactor and partner, Rosamund Stone Zander.

Over her lifetime, Roz devoted her diverse talents, intelligence and vision as a family therapist, best-selling author, leadership consultant, educator, and painter.

Her early experience teaching children with autism impressed upon her the challenges and needs of these individuals and their families. In the pursuit to make a difference in this domain, she met Dr. Mustafa Sahin of Boston Children’s Hospital, a pioneer in elucidating the genetic underpinnings of neurodevelopmental disorders. They formed an alliance dedicated to improving the lives of affected children and their families. Over time, Roz challenged Dr. Sahin to imagine how increased scale might accelerate the progress of his work. Together they developed an ambitious plan to speed translation of scientific discovery into widespread clinical practice. With a transformational gift through her J.P. Fletcher Foundation, the Rosamund Stone Zander Translational Neuroscience Center launched in early 2021. Mustafa and Roz shared a vision for the RSZ TNC as a center that can transform research and care for children with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Roz led an extraordinary and exemplary life of generosity and creativity. We have proudly installed her beautiful painting “Season of Light” prominently at the Center at Brookline Place. We remain inspired by her vision and generosity and are committed to furthering Roz’s legacy and impact on the world.
